God is a Placebo?

Before I begin, I would like to state that I am not an atheist. However, I am not religious either, I am simply spiritual. I believe in God, but not in the many names the people give God.

Over the years, I have come to reallise and observe that even the most religious people have a sever lack of faith. Be it the concept of "buri nazar" or bad luck, they fall prey to believing in it in no time. More so, they forget to keep faith. They simply keep following religious culture and practices.

Whether God exists or not is quite a debate. However, for the purpose of simplifying life, God (as a concept) works very well. As a placebo, God is perfect.

Even athiests would agree that placebos work. That is, if your believe that something is working for you, it will work for you. Why then not use the more powerful placebo to your advantage?

Keeping faith and belief in God can work splendidly. If you work hard, having faith that your hard work willl be rewarded, because God is looking, will give you strength to hold on through the gestation period. If you feel that life is tough, believing that God is testing your strength to stay on the right path, will keep you away from doing the wrong things to get short term relief.

God, to believers, always existed. But people had to be reminded of its existence, to bring them to the path of living a sustainable, more human-friendly life. Rules by mesiahs were more life guidelines to help people follow a path in life that would give them long term happiness. One that would allow them to get heaven on earth itself.

The reason for this post, is to let all my ardently religious readers to see the difference between having faith and simply being religious. Being religious will bring the fear or God in you. But having faith, will bring the peace of God in your life. Know the difference!
