Bonafide Urban Chick

A mother trusted her son

To protect her honour

Parvati taught him well and gave him a task

To guard the doors while she was in the shower

He took his responsibility seriously

And refused to bow down to anybody

Little did Ganesh know,

That at the door was none other than is daddy!

His father was Shiv- the Mahadev

On being refused, his anger flared

He cut the naysayers head

With not one word said.

When screaming Parvati came out

She told her husband who he had slayed

Mahadev decided to give

Ganesh an elephant’s head.

From that day on,

Ganesh became Ganpati

He is loved and cherished by all

As a sign of love conquering animosity.
