Bonafide Urban Chick

If independence was just a one time thing,
The fight wouldn’t be on still.
Our girls would freely play on the swing
And night times wouldn’t have a scary chill.

If independence was all about the national anthem
We would all be living carefree
But here crime and insensitivity work in tandem
And peace is a far out plea.

This Independence Day
I pray oh god, for the peace on my land.
I pray for Indians, those even on distant lands.
May we all remember our duties to the country,
Be it for large things or small.
May the flight of our “Tiranga” never fall!
